21% of the total Indian geographical land is under forest cover, and the entire area under the first cover is 7,13,789 sq km.
The forest cover of India has increased by 1540 sq km since 2019.
As per the forest report 2021, the top three states with the most forest area regained were Telangana(3.07%), Andra Pradesh(2.22%) and Odisha(1.04%).
