Groundwater – Making the invisible visible
Observed on 22nd March every year since 1993, World Water Day seeks to bring our attention to the significance of freshwater. With 2.2 billion people in the world with no access to safe and potable water according to the UN, World Water Day is a step toward raising awareness and taking action against the global water crisis. The theme of the World Water Day 2022 is Groundwater, making the invisible visible. Did you know that according to the UN and National Groundwater Association (NGWA), almost all of the liquid freshwater in the world is groundwater and India extracts the most amount of groundwater in the world?
