- 17 states and union territories have more than 33% of their geographical area under forest cover.
- Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chattisgarh, and Odisha have the highest percentage of the geographical area under forest cover.
- Andhra Pradesh is the state with the highest increase in forest cover recently, as forest area of 647 sq km increased in the state.
- Arunachal Pradesh is the state with the most reduced forest area recently according to Forest Report 2021. As per the report, the state lost 257 sq. km of forest in the past two years.
