Wildlife Protection Bill to Stiffen Penalties
Wildlife Protection Bill 2022 was approved by the RajyaSabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, on December 8, 2022. The legislation aims to stifen penalties for unlawful wildlife trade as well as boost protections for endangered species. Environment Minister ShriBhupenderYadav who proposed the bill in the RajyaSabha said that it is advantageous for local tribal groups as it inserts an explanation for certain approved activities like grazing, movement of livestock, etc.
